That moves me like no other music, for me its like a composer put so much feeling into it, its almost like a brain wave,or thinking out loud.
It sends me to different parts of the world, and of course the emotions are are just out of this world, very little modern day popular music does the same,

There's a reason that classical music has survived so long: it moves you. It has personality, so much emotion, and every note is so intense on one feeling, each measure like an articulate expression of pure joy, desperate love, the depths of misery, or the torrents of rage. It can be anything. You become lost in the strength of the music, eyes glazed over, head slightly swaying to the crescedos and staccato. Although the sound is produced through nonhuman extensions, the music is the raw soul of mankind, maestoso in 7/8 time.

I am fully and completely with you in all my heart and soul. Music runs in my family (my grandma was a philarmonic cellist, and both my mother and her mother--grandma 2--were professional singers)...but my mother says I was always her most responsive as I was born breathing it. It is actually part of my double major, as I'm in college.
Music is one of the most powerful conduits on this earth. It is proven to be able to rewire the brain (very literally). Music therapy is a growing field which has the power to heal people. Classical music has much more depth than any other genre of music. There are layers, and patterns. There is a lot more substance to it. In a lot of classical music, there is much inspiration. Mathematically it is very sound yet complex, giving our mind something to work with which puts it in order. Modern day music can never do many of the things that classical music does. I do not say it is bad...just different. Those who seek deeper knowledge and feeling, and wish to embrace it, often choose classical. Modern day music is more shallow, usually only having a simple melody line, etc., and is usually geared more toward mindless singing along--but can have more. It just usually doesn't.

I feel the same way. My music tastes change but I've always loved classical music. Its very emotional and very timeless. My absolute favorite composer is Chopin. I love his opus 9 #2. Its so pretty and envokes many different feelings. I actually have his fantasy impromptu as my cell phone ring tone. I feel like you do. I can picture myself in the 1800 and 1900s and just laying in a field looking at a pond or the clouds. It really can transport you into a different time and place. Classical is my music of choice if I'm nervous about something like an exam. It really puts me at ease.

I totally agree. Modern music is not a patch on Classical music. I reckon too many individuals learn to play a few chords on, say a guitar or piano, and they think they're good musicians. Boring!

So much of this modern music is so repetitive and a lot of it sounds the same. Why? Because there are only so many chord structures to play.

Now bring some melody into it, and you can sweep people away on a magical journey of the soul!!!

Classical music is intelligent music. It stimulates ones thought patterns, it sweeps you along. Powerful...!!!

Cos it's speaks to the inner you and your feelings. It can relax, smooothe, bring peace, excite, generate all sorts of emotions and gets the imagination working, dependant of course upon what is being played and your state of being at the time.

There is some modern day popular music that can do the same but agree with you unfortunately there is very little and the majority of the younger generation keeping in vogue with their peers miss out on something that is truly wonderful.

The appreciation for Classical music comes to most with maturity.

Classical music seems to capture our emotions and feelings like no other. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because of the life experiences of those who create and perform it. Maybe there is some unknown and unconscious connection. I wish I knew. But every time I put my favorite classical music on it effects me exactly the same way. I absolutely get lost in the passion and the feeling. I weep and laugh and am taken somewhere else. There are times I can't listen to it because I know what will happen. Other times I must listen as soon and as loud as possible.

Classical music has more emotion, and uses sound far more effectively then modern music. The closest thing to a modern alternative, would be Trance. Although simplistic, and repetitive, it does have a close resemblance to the integral structures contained in classical music, and manages to instill emotion within the listener! some folk would kill me for this opinion, but try it out! The chord changes and sequences are very similar!!

Many people find something in classical music that they never heard before. Part of the problem is that it is never covered properly at schools and barely scratched on the surface. I think the best way to come to classical music is with an open mind and find the composer(s) who help you relax or enjoy life or get the concentration going when you are reading or studying.

There's some trashy classical stuff out there as well. I think it's just what you've learnt to connect to; I am the same, as my parents are classical musicians, so I've grown up with that all around me and very little popular music. As a consequence, I don't enjoy most of the music around at the moment at all. So, that may be what it is. Oh, and Shostakovich is the master of soulful music. Amazing.

Our era has no comparison to the classical and baroque times, there is too much of difference in societies-- for example, nowadays, musicians/bands try to have a new album every year, or every two years, sometimes four years at most. Back then, composers spent their entire lives working on scores, requiems, and symphonies. It was not uncommon to wait ten years for the next major work.
Classical music is simply more thorough, many times revised, and meticulously arranged more so than other forms of music.
