I haven't played in awhile but I used to use a wide face graphite Penn with top spin string. I also liked Penn balls because the mess on them seemed tighter making for faster game play.

Give your opinions of what you like and why so the new people will have some ideas about what to look for.

I use and know a lot of other people that use the Prince Shark racket and love it. Also a lot of people are getting the Prince O3 White. Penn balls are preferable

I play with a Prince O3 White racket which gives you control and speed
synthetic gut string from Prince which guides the ball
Penn balls because they are the best

I'm a bit oldschool. Until about three years ago, I was still playing with the Wilson ProStaff 6.0 (the one with the 85 square inch head) because I liked to make my own power and I felt like it had the best touch of any racket. Now I'm using the Dunlop 300G... a little more pop and a bigger sweet spot without having lost any touch.

Pick a mid-to-low priced racket unless you are in a tournament. For most people, the racket choice makes less than 1% difference in their game. (Unless you are so insecure that having a fancy racket makes you feel more confident, or else you are playing someone so foolish that they are intimidated by your racket.) Spend the money you save on a lesson.

i agree with you on using penn balls, however i have been using a prince triple threat for several years now and i love it. It is extremely lightweight and responsive. It is a good price too usually between 250-350, depending...
