I am 17 yrs old and recently moved out of my mothers home(I live in MI it is legal here) My mother signed over power of attorney to a friend of the family who i WAS staying with.....I am no longer staying with her but with a different person...Me and the person i am with now are wanting to move out of MI . To tell you now. my mother is VERY vindictive and will try anything! Me and my roomate are wondering if there are any laws being broken or anything my mother can do if we moved out of state, also wondering if she could do anything to the friend whom she signed power of attorney over to.

17 years old is like a gray area in most states. This being as 18 is the legal age in most states. OR the age you are considered to (legally) be an adult. Keep in mind that this does vary from state to state. But once your mom gave power of attorney to this friend/relative she basically gave up her right so to speak. I am NOT positive on if she can revoke this or not. BUT you can also go to the court and requewst to be emancipated. Once this is done there is no way shape or form that she can say anything about anything you do. You may want to even like contact a councilor somewhere in your local area and they may be able to give you better info (lawwise) as they are from the area/state your in. This may not be the exact or best answer but it will get you started. Good Luck.

If you cross any state border with a male over 18 years old - HE is breaking a Federal Law - the Mann act. He will go to jail! That law has nothing to do with anything your mother says or does - it is a Federal Law. Wait until you are 18! And make sure your boyfriend or girlfriend is also 18 or older.

What's a couple more months? just wait until you're 18 and most of those problems will go away.
