Oh my goodness no! For the past decade the jobs have been good and money plentiful. Parents all absorbed in their careers. Kids put into daycare at the age of 6 weeks. Latch Key kids everywhere, all the kids have thousands of dollars worth of toys. Now with the economy taking a slump we see lots of houses up for sale. Maybe they will start getting back to the grassroots of child rearing now. Oh yeah..tons of babies being born out of wedlock and tons of people just shacking up together. We have gone to pot here.

NO way I know this for a fact it's no diffrent's at all. Michigan is or was the #1 state to be effected by the 9/11 tragedy job wise every factory that we had was torn down or moved across sea's. As far as more family oriented than anyone else not at all.

I have lived here in MI for three years, and have lived in 5 other states. No one state seems more family oriented than another, it would all depend on the city you live in, the people that live there and I think the environment. I happen to live in socially aggressive area and it seems like every ones kids are involved in ever thing, but that doesn't make you family oriented.. I truly believe it all depends on the parents.

People are people, and families are families, no matter where they live. I love Michigan, but would never assume that we are anymore family-oriented here than anywhere else. We try to do the best we can for our families, no matter where we live.

I think people are family oriented most everywhere in America.
I think Michigan is more blue collar with more a family concentration due to the industry (Automotive) we have. Middle class has grown from assembly plant money - which is shrinking.

No. Geography is no more an indicator of family-orientation than it is for personal or social morals or education or political affiliation.

Individuality, up-bringing, education and experiences are the main factor.
