This is obviously for an assignment, and I don't normally provide homework answers online, especially when you really can find this info on your own. I'd normally just refer you to Yahoo, Google or Wiki, but because of the way you asked the question, I felt I needed to post more.

Check the websites for the Perkins School for the Blind.

Google "Usher Syndrome".

Read about Hellen Keller, who's probably the most famous Deafblind person.

The people you're talking about sometimes refer to themselves as "Deaf Blind" or "Deafblind". That may help you as you search online.

Please note that some people find the term "mute" offensive. I know that it's a term that's been used historically, but today it has nasty connotations. I've provided a reference, below, and ask you to consider using the term "mute" with caution, especially in relationship to people who are Deaf.

Blind, deaf and mute people have been asking that question since the beginning of time. Unfortunately, no one ever understands the question so no one answers it. And even if someone answered it perfectly, they probably wouldn't listen.

Google Hellen Keller.
Being mute has nothing to do with perceiving.
