However.....the control line is dark and the test line is light! According to my ovulation information in the kit, this means that there is no LH surge, however this has been happening around this time of the month for three months? Is it reading wrong or am I ovulating? What are some other signs of ovulation?

those stupid things are so hard to read! It's alot more but get the clear blue easy digital. Every ovulation test that I took had 2 lines. I just had a hard time figuring out if one line was as dark or darker than the other. My gosh it's enough stress TTC let alone trying to read those lines. With the digital test its a circle if you aren't and a smiley face if you are. Pretty clear!

my ovulation tests say on info that doesnt matter if lines are light or dark - there is a surge in LH - however, just keep checking everyday and see if the lines get darker...
sometimes mine are light to begin with and then after about 3 days the lines are dark - maybe you just need to keep checking?

maximum ovulation try strips might want to have one line referred to as the administration line which will be a brighter/darker line than the actually try line. The try line might want to be as darkish or darker than the administration line for it to be a favorable. If there is only a faint line that is a adverse.

try reducing fluids 2 hours before the test & make sure to take it after you're awake for at least 2 hours.

Read about cervical mucus - it should be like egg-whites around your ovulation.
