The Great White, Carcharodon carcharius (which can reach up to 7m in length) is protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) , so you would not be legally able to aquire one.
Prior to 2005 the longest a Great White had been kept in captivity was 16 days before it died. One was successfully kept for nearly 200 days before it outgrew its 'tank' at The Monterey Bay Aquarium. They "...made history ... when [they] successfully managed to wean a juvenile Great white shark on to dead foods and acclimatise it to life in an enormous aquarium. All previous attempts at keeping the Great white in captivity have failed.
Monterey Bay's shark, which was caught by Halibut fishermen last August [2004], was growing so quickly that she was fast becoming too large for her tank and was beginning to prey on her tankmates".
But it would be ace if ya could!

There hasn't been a succesful attempt at keeping a Great White in captivity for longer than a few months. The longest time was something like 6 months, give or take a few.
But, the tank would have to be HUGE. I mean REALLY huge.

You would need to have a wild game license at the very least. And remember, there has never been a great white kept alive in captivity-they die very quickly.

Sure. If you're a billionaire you can do anything. You can even build your own saltwater lagoon and hire a staff of marine biologists to take care of it 24/7 for you.

It's a protected species - so, no on legal grounds. You have to think things through - they get a bit tetchy when you try sticking its one ton bulk in the bath while you clean its tank.

do you have any idea how big great whites get?? and how much it would cost to feed one? i don't know if it's illegal to own one or not i guess you would have to get a hold of the wildlife dept. and see if you have to have a permit to own it? I'm not sure if a great white would even survive in captivity

It would far cheaper and more pracrical to have an aquariam with a magnifying glass and a goldfish. then you can pretend you have a great white shark except it would be gold and it wouldnt be able to eat you.
