According to the New England Journal of Medicine women are 65% more likely to cheat then men.
The section on why is a lot longer and contains a lot more speculation. The women who cheat on their partners fall into the same two groups cheating men do, ones that are curious about what something different would be like and those who have lost respect for their spouse. Neither is really better than the other in the long run and despite what you may say neither is entirely the fault of a man. Husbands are simply the people women chose to marry for better or worse. They do what they can for women and it's either enough or it's not. Regardless of what a man does wrong or fails to do it doesn't excuse breaking vows.

I don't think the rate for women are that much different than men. But people usually cheat because they are unhappy or lacking something in there relationship. Instead of trying to fix the problem with the person they are with and should be in love with. They take the easy way out and go get what they need or want some place else. It is the number 2 reason for divorce, right after Finances.

They read too many issues of Cosmos and watch too many episodes of Oprah and become brainwashed into believing their lives are unfullfilled and there's more out there for them. But in the end they end up divorced and find out the hard way that the grass isn't greener on the other side. And Oprah won't pay the rent at her new trailer park home.

Women are more creative at telling lies. Men don't think about every angle of a story. Women do.
Occasionally, the woman slips and caught.

I believe they want something new and exciting. Someone else who finds them beautiful, smart, and funny. I think they want that goofy feeling that one gets when they start a new relationship.
I am not saying its right but many women including myself get bored or feel suffocated. I would never cheat, but I would change it up a little if I got bored.
