I was wondering if anyone knew of any sites that have not too exspensive crystals and stones at all for a newbie collector?

http://www.firemountaingems.com is an incredible site for semi-precious beads, pearls, etc.- they don't have a lot of mineral display specimens.
Honestly, my best specimens have come from eBay.

try Kentucky there are a lot of strange crystals in that state.also try Utah.
