After 1 week, most airline will allow your child to fly. Driving can be much more stressful then flighing, esp if its just you and him. When you are on a plane, you are free to hold him, feed him and play with him. In a car, he is just stuck in the car seat. My son is 3 months and has flown across the Pacific ocean twice and is going to be doing it again next month (An 11 hour flight). Some tips...1) Buy a seat for the child if money will allow, as lap seating gets really old after 5 hours. 2) If you are traveling on a 747, 767 and 777, and you can't purchase an infant seat, ask for a bassinet to be on the plane. These hook into the wall of the bulkhead and will give baby a nice place to sleep, as well as giving you a much needed break. 3) Bring lots of diapers!! 4) Either have your child sleep through the take offs and landings or have them feeding or sucking a pacifier. 5) Have someone ready when you land to watch your baby so you can get some much needed sleep.
Overall, I would much rather travel with a baby my aircraft then by car. It seems so much easier on the child. Also, talk to the airline. Call their ticketing to get special rates for infant seats and for the bulkhead seats.
Hope this helps!

He can go on a plane with no problems now. Just make sure he has a bottle for take off and landing, this will help with ear pressure. Since babies don't understand to yawn to get their ears to pop, they need the bottle so they have sucking that helps keep the ears from pressurizing.

If it's not too far, personally I would drive. Your child should be fine to fly as long as there are no concerns about airborn illnesses.

do you mean on a plane? Or like birds fly? If you mean on a plane he could go on a plane now. Just remember to have him drink his bottle on take off and landing.

He can fly fine now...just nurse him or bottle feed him during take off and landing to help his ears pop (otherwise it will hurt him)...he will probably sleep the whole way.

Kids can only fly if Peter Pan sprinkles fairy dust on them, I'll ask him to pop over to your place if you want me to cause he lives here with me and Presidente Bush, we are all in the same asylum.

I heard 3 months, but just to be sure, if I were you I would check with your doctor and airline regulations.
