Write the lyrics first, be sure you incorporate although refrain, bridge, or refrain your going to. Then play with the chord progression until eventually you have some thing you like, and a few thing that works nicely with the words. Then play the chords and sing your words, a melody will slowly locate its thank you to you.

i write my lyrics first. then later on i write the music. but i have to determine how i want the music to go. if i have a song about heartache it might be slower then if i wrote one about the party i went to last night (or something)

lyrics first them melody. but sometimes i already have a music in mind then apply lyrics to it. depends really on where you're most comfortable with.

It comes to me easier than lyrics.

I know Elton John always puts the melody down first, and ABBA always got the hook together first, I guess it depends on the artist.

dont got no money for the equiptment to make music so the lyrics always first and i put ALOT into it
