You never totally get rid of these memories. You replace them.
Many painful memories deal with relationships. You need to accept the fact that you are no more than one half of any relationship and have no control over the other half or more and what they think and do.
I was in my first marriage for fifteen years, the last ten of which were with an unfaithful partner. I do remember most of the pain that I had to endure in that relationship, but I don't dwell on it. I finally had enough and divorced her. I kept my son and remarried.
It would be incorrect and dishonest to say these actions ended all pain or erased the pain, but I have been fortunate to have had a number of very good experiences and memories since.
At the age of 65 I can remember many things that were bad and many that were good. I have learned to be patient. I have learned that all things will pass.
The simplest way to get rid of those memories quickly is to find other things to do to occupy yourself. It could be reading. It could be spending time with a child. It could be a pet or any number of things. You need to move on and do it as quickly as possible.
The other thing is that you need to accept what has happened, but learn to place those things in perspective. You can be bigger than they are, and you must be.
Good luck and God bless you.

There is no simple solution to your question...
Memories are going to be there.
Focus on learning something that requires the use of your brain and become great at it. The pain of bad memories will lesson over time. Not end, just fade into the background and don't talk about our bring them up again. Put them to rest in the graveyard of your mind.

Do not dwell on those memories. If you think about something over and over again, it will be at the fore front of your thoughts. File the memory away and each time your mind pushes it forward, replace it with something new and positive. If the memory is terribly traumatic you may want to seek therapy.

you don't want to get rid of the memory (you'll need that in the future) but you want to get rid of the pain.
The only way to do that is to keep living..when you need to cry, cry..but if you keep on living new things and people will also, at some point, make you want to laugh.
There is no simple cure-all or pill...just time and life.

I don't know if you should get rid of them. You survived something bad, and by that you are stronger. You can't change the past, but you can use what you learned in the past to help in the future.
If you screwed up, you don't have to choose that path again. If something bad happened to you, you now have more faith and confidence in your ability to withstand trouble.
You choose how much the past affects you.
