Here is my advise to you: (by the way I am a nobody! But I have won my league in 3 out of my 4 years playing)

There is no right way to draft a football team but there are definietely wrong ways!!!

Don't take a RB just for the sake of its the 2nd round and somebody says take a RB in round 2.

I always take the best available RB in my 1st round pick, unless you pick late first round and there are a lack of standout guys like (L. Johnson, L. Tomlinson, S. Alexander, C. Portis, T. Barber) If all these guys and maybe a couple I forgot are gone consider taking Peyton Manning, or Steve Smith. You will do fine with these guys but there are few other positions which can compete with RB.

So I try to pick my 2 starting RBs in the first 3 rds!
My other pick is usually a top WR or top QB.

QBs remember that Peyton only goes to 1 team, and after he's gone there are 2 top QBs coming off of knee surgery(Culpepper and Palmer) so there is a risk with these guys your choice if you want to take it or not. My point I am getting to is QB position is not much difference in scoring outside of Manning. If you take an early pick and get T. Brady, he will likely not score much more than a 5-8th round QB.

WRs score a lot so try to have all 2 or 3 starters nailed down before round 7. WR is a very deep position so you should do OK here, also think sleeper with a later round pick for a backup.

If people are taking backup RBs and you don't follow suit you may get stuck with 2 good starters and a poor backup.

Important thing to do is read the draft if defenses are going early and fast you better get one before they are gone. Same goes with Kickers and TEs but these 2 are a lot like QBs there is not a lot seperating the top thru like #10.

Things you can do wrong:
Do not pick a lot of players from the same team especially your favorite team.
Be careful do not select starters in the same position with the same bye week. If you do this then you may need to play short handed that week. That is do not take 2 starting WR with bye weeks in the same week.

My sleepers this year are QB B. Leftwich, and WR Mark Clayton!

Good Luck in your draft!

If out of your curiosity you wonder how my strategy works, here is my team for this year: with # drafted in ()

QB - Jake Delhomme(7), Kurt Warner(9)
RB - Clinton Portis(1), Corey Dillon(3), Chris Brown(5)
WR- Chad Johnson(2), Anquan Boldin(4), Darrel Jackson(6), Mike Clayton(15), Mark Clayton(12)
TE - Alge Crumpler(8), L.J. Smith(11)
K - Shayne Graham(13)
DEF - Wahington(10), Jacksonville(14)

I know it is not the best but it is solid and I will do well if Clinton Portis is OK to play!

Running backs almost always go 1st. You need to keep in mind value on the board, but I recommend always making your 1st pick a running back. After that it depends. Is a QB or a WR available for your next pick that is clearly better than the others at their spot ( say Peyton Manning ) ? If so grab them, if not, if the QBs and WRs left are kinda the same, then grab another RB. After that if the same rule above applies I would recommend a WR, unless your league requires a TE be played. If so grab the best TE available and proceed to a WR, a Qb...then just go for the best value you can find

Here is the order I'd go with.

RB, RB, WR, WR, QB, RB, WR, TE and then for the rest of your picks go with best available.

Don't be super strict with your drafting, if you have a chance to get elite players at other positions don't be afraid to modify your drafting. just be sure to give your team solid depth at all the skill positions.

First it depends how many slots you have for the different positions.

Assuming that this is how your league is set up (this is the default) roster postions:
QB, WR x3, RB x2, TE, K and DEF

This should be how you draft:
RB, RB, WR, QB, TE, WR, WR, DEF, Bench spots and kicker somewhere where you see fit, but never pick a kicker before anything else. (inside note, no one ever takes Lawrence Tynes because he's not a big name kicker, but he put up mad points, you can get him last round)

Hope you do well with your draft! If you have any doubts about your team, then just post the team on here like everyone else does and we'll help you :)

generally, you want to go hard and heavy at RBs. take more RBs than you think you need, their the most valuble players in fantasy. wait a bit on QBs, outside of the top two or three theres not much difference. if you can get a stud WR, you might try it maybe in the late second, but if you do, be sure you get backs in the 1st and 3rd. and don't take defences and kickers till near the end, and only take one of each. same for tight ends, unless you grab a proven one and maybe vernon davis or kellen winslow. good luck!

1-RB 2-RB or good WR 3-RB or WR 4-QB 5-WR if you don't already have two or else RB 6-WR or good TE 7-DEF 8-K 9-backup QB 10-RB 11-16 You're on your own

The biggest problem a new fantasy player can make is listening to advice from poeple who dont truly know how to play the game.

For expert advice on your question go here:

http://www.FantasyFanBase.com

You will need to let them know your league settings(scoring player positions etc) as that can have a great impact on who you draft and when. Most of all be very careful when seeking advice from people who dont have a history of playing and winning.

Good luck.
