Yes. You shouldn't perm or color your hair during your pregnancy, because you can absorb the chemicals through your scalp into your bloodstream, and they can harm the fetus.

There is a lot of debate about perming or coloring your hair while pregnant. The chemicals that these contain is said to cause harm to the baby but there is no direct link between the two. But why take the risk? Perming your hair while pregnant is a call you and your doctor should make.. If you decide to, just be sure to keep the stuff off of your skin and scalp. I have heard that perms can go crazy on a pregnant woman to! Because of the hormones..

There is many "old wise tales" out there about pregnancy. I think this is one of them. However I wouldn't personally recomend perming your hair because of the odor/fumes the products put off. You don't want to get sick from breathing them and I wouldn't take a chance.

You can always ask your OB doctor when you have any questions about your pregnancy. The nurses are always helpful on the phone. Before doing anything as drastic as perming your hair I would call first.

Well, I say do what you think is right. If you have no doubts whatsoever about the effects of perming whilst pregnant, go ahead.

But if you are cautious and hesitant, I say don't do it. Not only will you be putting stress onto yourself but on your foetus too. After all, all expecting mothers want a happy pregancy wouldn't they?

Hope my answer helped c",)

I don't know about today's permanent solutions but years ago it wasn't advisable for a woman to perm or color her hair during pregnancy because of the toxic fumes. If in doubt talk to your doctor.
