I had a baby about 18 months ago and got an epidural, I'm still having back pains from it, and I wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing the same problems.

I had severe twinges in the location of my epidural for about a year afterward. Occasionally I still do. That was back in 1998. I have since had 3 more babies. I had an epidural with all 3. If you choose to have an epi the next time make sure it is the anesthesiologist that performs it for you. Not a med student, not a nurse anesthetist, not an intern, These people come into your birthing room and tell you "HI, my name is _______. I will be doing your epidural." They don't tell you it will only be their 10th, 50th, or 500th time and they don't tell you that they are not a licensed and fully accredited anesthesiologist.

Go to a spinal specialist. I am seeing one currently and it has been a big help. Don't go back to your OB becaust the back is not their specialty. Talk to your primary if you need a referral.

I know a few women who had lasting back pain from epidural and even limping.

I did not take any drugs when I had my baby 4 yrs ago but I still have back pain from the ordeal itself. Especially if I'm a little heavier or when it's that time of month.

It may not be the epidural that is causing your pain. When in labor, the baby may be causing pressure to the spine. If U can, get an Xray done of your spine to see if vertebrae is out. May be pinching a nerve, See a chiropractor. I had extreme back pain enough to wake the dead. Saw a chiro, xrayed and he thought I had an accident. No had labor for 42 hrs. 3 days later w/treatment no pain.

My girlfriend actually got sciatica (a chronic pinching of the sciatic nerve between the vertibrae) because of her epidural. A Chiropractor will help fix the problem. The doctor can give you meds for the pain in the meantime. Massage it great too. All can be on your health insurance.

Yes Yes I did I have had 3 kids via c sections and 2 of them i had spinals done and ouch did they hurt with my second one they tried to do a epidural but could not find the right spot so did the spinal instead which gave me spinal headaches for 2 weeks . go see your doc and have them do a MRI you may have a slipped disc and the epidural made it worse .good luck

I had an epidural and c-section with both of my kids and still get back pains. I also have alot of numbness from my c-section- just from where they did the incision. Sometimes the weather causes my back to hurt. Get use to it, it's the price of having kids.

Yes, me too but not so bad. If I plan to have another one, I'll not take the epidural anymore. It cause more problem later.

yeah I had problems with my back for a while after mine, but that's because I had some idiot trying to do it. Then after about thirty mins of her trying to stick me in my back, she then realize she could do it and ran out of the room and I had to give birth naturally. It took me about two years later to feel a little better, I am still bitter as hell about that too, But that's probably just because I had such an awful experience, You should ask your doctor if she or he could take a look at you spine!
