What are some of my career options? Besides teaching of course. I got into ECE, because I really wanted to open a daycare. I still do, but I am considering other possiblities now. I love kids, and want to work with them, but the teacher salarie makes me sad.

To those of you giving her a hard time....
How many of you knew ALL the things you could do with your degree? Most education majors go into their education with the full intention of becoming a teacher, it is only later, when the reality of the pay scale hits home, that they think "there's got to be something better out there." And it is not widely known what all you can do with an education degree because it assumed you will go into teaching.

And I'm sorry, I don't have a whole lot of other options for you either. As they mentioned, becoming a psychologist (which requires more school), you could work somewhere like Sylvan, or work AT a daycare (much better to start out), You can probably get a job with the YMCA or something like that doing their children's programming. You also might want to check into your local church's- often they need child activity programmers. You could also (at least in summer time) look into various camps - to be a director of some sort. My cousin worked for Easter Seals, if you would consider some special ed.
Good Luck.

teacher salary is said, they are very under appreciated. I think that you should look into the websites of your local school ditricts and see what jobs they are offering. Many times you can work somewhere simply by having a BA in anything and make a hell of alot more than a teacher does.

I think that if you get your masters though in child psychology you can become a school psychologist.
you can even become a child social worker.
Or a child support type of officer or something similar

You are getting a BA and you can't even spell "salary!" Colleges have certainly lowered their standards. And if the salary makes you sad, you should have researched this BEFORE you decided to make it your career. Glad you won't be teaching MY kids!

Girl, if you don't know hundreds of options of your own, you don't deserve this honor. You have had years to explore all the possibilities. No one here can tell you something you don't or should know. Silly.
