I think that there is something much more personal and intimate when you can pick up a piece of paper and take a pen to it and write your friend/lover/family a letter. Pretty much everyone gets email now; but can you remember when you used to anticipate receiving a letter in the mail? I know that I love that feeling, and so do my friends, so I still hand-write letters whenever I can.

My penmanship is so lousy that I should have been a doctor. I remember telling my 2nd grade teacher, who frequently commented on my lousy penmanship, that in the future (this would have been around 1972) we would not need to be able to write well with a pen because 'thinking machines' would write for us. She thought I should be in 'special ed' but I was right! If you all had to read my actual hand writing, I wouldn't be nearly as popular on this site as I am with the help of my 'thinking machine'.
