Start off with a white eyeshadow for the base colour and then the top layer with a dark grey/charcol colour and smudge it in for a smoky effect. If you want your eyes as your main face feature then don't go with red lippy, just go gloss lips, and highlight your eyes with the eyeshadow and eyeliner (but remember don't over power it) REMEMBER! LESS IS MORE.

Depending on your "skin tone" that will make the difference in shadow shade. I personally would go with something nuetral for eyelids, (brown, tan, taupe, depending on if you are fair, in-between or olive or brown) and something with some flecks of gold or shimmer for under your eyebrows. But for a hot red dress, it's all about the lipstick! You want to get your lipstick as close to the red in your dress as possible. Don't wear that hot red dress and pink lipstick, or dark plum, or just gloss, be bold, make a statement, the dress is hot, go with red lipstick and red nail polish and if you are wearing strappy open shoes, which I would, you have to paint your toenails red also. And then don't use a little red bag, use a little black After 5 bag, or gold or silver, depending on your accessories, if you are going to wear gold, use a shiny little gold bag, if you are wearing silver, go with a shiny little silver bag. When I say accessories, I'm talking about jewelry. Tell me you are going to wear strappy red shoes, you have to! Do it for me! I love black, but a hot red dress deserves strappy red shoes. I know you will look fabulous. Knock'em out at the function girlfriend!

Whatever looks best for your coloring. Don't match the outfit, match your eye color.
IF you are planning on red lipstick, try a smokey look. It works really well together.
