Take Belzebub's advice. I bought a Saxo VTR from brand new and have had nothing but soddin trouble with it i.e the windscreen fell in !, leaky roof, central locking stopped working, new clutch, new ignition, loss of power,air bag light constantly flashes etc etc.
I call it my French piece of shite
Look elsewhere mate for your own sanity

It all depends what you mean by major service. I have a VTR and it requires a service every 10k miles or each year. The 80k service seems to have quite a lot to it, but it doesn't mention a cam belt change. The 100k is a biggie too.
I would assume that 80k is the big one and make sure the belt is done then.

BTW good choice of car, fast but the slightly retro look makes it a bit of sheep in wolfs clothing. Check out the insurance though, I found it quite high.

As a Mechanic I've yet to see a good Citroen build after 1966
Leave it and buy a Jap or Local made

big service for most cars is every 3 services, so 3 years 36000 and so on.
for what you can geta decent service done for though at an independant its worth having a full service annualy
