I've for the past few months have been feeling some discomfort in my chest (pretend that an upside-down V is my rib cages - the point is where it feels like they meet and were it sometimes feels funny.) The throbbing (best word I can think of to describe it even though it doesn't exactly throb) isn't sharp or continuous, and as I said, I've felt it every so often since about May. Quite often it moves higher up, but even then, it's only on my left side and below collarbone.

So, to recap:
*left side of body, always lower than collarbone, higher than naval.
*on and off since May
*not sharp, more of a soreness?
*no idea what it is

I had suspicions that this was related to cardiology, but when I saw my cardiologist after having some scans taken, he said that everything seemed to be looking fine, but he didn't have any other idea as to what it was.

So the final question: WHAT AM I FEELING?

Some of you are gonna ask for info about me, so I'll say quickly: I'm a teen, girl, healthy, etc.

To those who've asked, I have already seen a doctor, two to be exact. The first was my normal doctor who told me to go to the cardiologist after he determined that my rib tissue wasn't inflamed, and the cardiologist in turn said that teh problem wasn't cardiological.

It doesn't hurt when I take in a breath, it seems that it just comes and goes whenever it pleases.

How feasible is it that these would simply be growing pains?

Also, it seems like it kicks up in wamer weather. I'm fine when I'm vacationing in the considerably cool or when it's cold where I live, but when it gets warm it sometimes twinges.

At your age cardiac disease is unlikely but good you got yourself checked. Muscular pain or Acid petic disease is the most common things encontered in the age group you are in. So may be try a course of Ranitidine twice daily for 10 days and it may help.

My 16 year old daughter had some of the same symptoms. We took her to her doctor and she was told it was anxiety. That sometimes anxiety can be masked as heart problems. Also, believe it or not it can be completely gastric, which is your stomach and such, keeping air in there. Also, just to be safe, I would ask for them to do a dye contrast (if I was your mom) or if your 18 or so.. which will make your insides glow, and then an MRI will watch to see if it outlines any medical problem.. Hope this helps

Well if you sleep in a uncomfortable possision that
may be the cause. Or you are not drinking enough milk for
calcium. Or you do a lot of excercises and losing breath may
be the cause. Try some medication. Like there
is this one cream. Um forgot the name but it was on a
commercial. Its applied where it hurts.

First of all, I want to say I am sooooooo glad you saw your cardiologist. So many people have chest discomfort and because it is not a sharp pain they let it go.

You should see a general practitioner, they might be able to tell if it is gastro-intestinal or muscular, or whatever. You should have it checked out. Best of luck to you.
