There are lots -
It leads to destruction of lives and buildings. People are forced to live poorer lives becasue of that.
It affects almost the entire world..creates commotion and worry and insecurity.
It leads to lack of unity among countries. If not resolved, it simply worsens.
In war, lots of ammunition is used, even nuclear weapons. These release gases that are toxic and when inhaled, they can kill us or cause mutations. These changes are passed on to the future generations.

Are you referring to war in general, or the war we are fighting now? In general, wars are never fought for the reasons that the people fighting them think they are. Politicians manipulate the media, the public, and even some of our allies into thinking it's the only answer, and that we're on the "right" side. This war in particular is riddled with reasons that it is not justified. #1. It is completely based on lies. (Entered into based on the info that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. We later learned that Bush was fully aware that Saddam did NOT have WMD.) #2. "The War on Terrorism" had nothing to do with Saddam, it had everything to do with Bin Laden, who Bush's family has been good friends with for many years. (That's probably why Bush flew the entire Bin Laden family out of the U.S. during the 3 days we had the "no fly zone" and no one else could fly-whether you needed that kidney transplant or not. He flew them out before the FBI could question them, which was basically illegal. Before I go any deeper on this topic, let me give you a few reasons you can use for your essay on war in general: 1. No one has the right to take another person's life. 2. Civilians, IE: women and children, the elderly are killed along with the soldiers. They are also captured, raped, and tortured for information. 3. Violence only causes more violence, and it isn't up to the U.S. to "police" the rest of the world. (That last part obviously refers to the present mess we're in.) 4. Financially, it costs BILLIONS to rebuild devastated towns, cities, et.al. 5. The destruction of priceless works of art, documents, and history. 6. It can ruin your reputation and credibility with the rest of the world if they disagree. (United Nations doesn't usually sanction wars.)
7. And yes, it seems there is always somewhat of a "sore spot" between two nations that have fought against each other (think Germany, Japan, etc.) Well, I'm winding down for now. Good luck with your essay, you can find a WEALTH of info about why we shouldn't be in our current war online, and I'm sure about war in general, as well. Let us know how you did!

900 words is hardly anything. Just type in 'war justified' on yahoo! questions and there are plenty of articles.
Be sure to use spell check & cite your sources.

Many innocent people are killed by war, unfortunately people tend to ignore it. If I were writing your paper, I would do some research and try to find out how many children and babies are killed and/or disfigured by acts of war.
