The answer is of course Mongolia, but I was looking for a non cut and paste answer so I picked the person who said australia as the best answer even though its wrong.

It must be Mongolia. Also consider this: about 1/3 of the people in Mongolia live in the capital, Ulaanbataar, about 2 million people. The other 2/3 live scattered accross the contryside. The largest city outside of UB does not have more than 10,000 people. I've been to UB, and it is unlike the rest of the country. Other cities I've been to that are on a typical map like Sainshyad, Mandalgovi, and Dalanzadgad are puny in comparison.

Mongolia is the least densely populated country in the world, with just 1.8 persons per square km. Greenland, although not a country, has just 0.03 persons per square km. It is a territory of Denmark.
