Mine is really slow dial up. It's 16.8 Kbps. That's very slow. I'm excited to get my internet fixed and to get DSL in December. What can I do until then to speed up my internet? Also answer "how fast is your internet going?" by putting your cursor over those two computers by your time.

hey if you plane on getting a router for your internet
make susre you do this

hen you do make sure you call your (isp) or this will happen
people in the vicinity is on your network

GET THIS SET TO DISABLED

(GAMES & APPLICATION SHARING )
it dont matter what router you have you need to get
(GAMES & APPLICATION SHARING ) set to disable

is your router safe?
you need to call your (isp) server
they have to get you in to your router home page
then from there ..copy & paste the router home page
into a notepad then save that to a back up cd

now from there they have to take you to the part
where (GAMES & APPLICATION SHARING ) is
then you click on ( GAMES & APPLICATION SHARING) icon
then at the top on the right your see
configure.. you click on configure
then you .. untick the box
that is ticked there ...
then you click on
apply

if you have a wireless router
and then ask there where you set up a wpa-security key dont use a 128bit wep key ask to use a wpa- security that is your router security key and you pick the wpa-security key not your (isp)server . just ask them where you set one up they will say use a wep-key ..ignore them you say your going to use a wpa.key and whant to know how to set one up and remember you pick the wpa-key not your (isp)server or they will use your network

now you close off the page
and clean out your internet address bar

First off, I would like to indicate that there is a difference between the speed of your internet connection and the speed that is told by "those two computers by your time." The latter is the speed that your computer is communicating with either your router, your modem, your other computers, or all of the above (and is known as the network speed). Your internet speed is the speed at which your modem talks to the ISP (Internet Service Provider). Both speeds are told in Megabits/sec (mbps); and the network speed is usually constant, unless you have a wireless connection.

To test your INTERNET speed, go to http://infospeed.verizon.net

There, you can have your internet speed instantly tested with accuracy. Look on the multi-colored part on the right hand side of the black line for YOUR internet speed.

I have DSL, but only the second fastest speed they have to offer, 1.5mbps

Hope I cleared things up!

You can't physically speed up your internet, but you can speed up web surfing by getting an "accelerator" program (it downloads all the stuff onto your computer and next time you visit the website it will load up as much as it can off your hard drive rather than the internet); my internet goes at a blazin' 52.08 Kbps

I'm connected via wireless, so my speed is a constant 54 mbps.
