The USA doesn't have a monopoly on freedom! If anyone asked me what I liked about the UK or Australia I wouldn't even think of answering "freedom" - we just take it for granted. Is that the best the USA can offer - freedom? Do you guys compare yourselves with North Korea or communist Russia or something? It all sounds a bit lame to me...

There are a lot of dumb people on here. We have a lot more freedom than other countries... We can practice any religion, listen to any music, pursue any career, vote. There are women in other countries who have to be covered up consistently or who can't vote... But I am not even going to waste any more time on this question... All the other assholes from other countries who got nothing better to do but s h i t talk should shut the hell up... If this is the best question you got, you really don't have much of a brain, and if you really have no clue what people mean by freedom then you are just an idiot. Plus that is not the only reason people love the USA you dip s h i t... Get a life...

It's beyond lame. See in America freedom is really just a word....it doesn't really mean anything. To Americans supporting freedom means to slap a couple more American flag stickers on your car and suddenly everyone will know what a freedom loving, American flag pasting patriot you are. The reason all we talk about is freedom is because we really aren't contributing anything else to global culture. We aren't helping to make the world a better place, but to say we love freedom gives the illusion we are. In reality, the USA is creeping toward facism, but it's hidden behind this overwhelming front of patriotism. And yes, we do compare ourselves to North Korea and Russia, and consider them all that is evil in the world and think all they want to do is destroy us because they hate freedom. America is a very twisted, annoying, confusing ignorant place right now, my friend.

Freedom as politicians us it means doing whatever you wish to and believing that no one else in any other Society has the same quality of life. Well, Freedom is a word that is described in many different ways. The US does not offer anyone absolute freedom to start with, so what freedom do we offer? The answer is Limited Freedom. What is Limited Freedom? The Answer is no one really knows until you loss it, freedom.

It is just a sing song phrase... if they really stood for freedom they would not wreck havock on other countries, through assasination of democratic leaders and alliances with Kings and dictators!!! If democratic values had been deep in America there would have been opposition to such jingoistic foreign policy... but they just cant. You only have freedom to agree with the Empire otherwise you are a traitor... coldwar and veitnam are classic examples.

Unfortunately we have a rogue country leading the world.

It's very Orwellian, the Department of "Defense" are engaged in constant wars to protect "freedom". Many Americans do not truly understand freedom - it's a lot more complex than free speech, rights of religion etc. For example although all Americans are free to travel theoretically because there are so many marginalized Americans many are not free to exercise this right for economic reasons.

Because historically the United States has entered into wars to fight for it. We've helped provide 'it' to a lot more people and nations than any of your other countries that just take it for granted. Freedom is the basic principal that allows people like yourself to whine and moan like a jealous baby about it...cause if you were in Iran complaining about their government like you are against ours, your head would be rolling in a public square tomorrow....in case that sounds too lame for you!

It's just a lame cliche. If it's such a free country, then why can't you have a beer in a park, or smoke in a restaurant? They just think they're free because they keep being told they are.

Possibly a catch phrase, drummed into them at school or they have seriously thought about it.
On the other hand, it has been said that Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
