well growing up i had always been able to remember images, scenery, small details of objects, where thing are placed and beable to tell you the exact place of things from just a glance . but im not so good with text unless i read the entire thing .... i can scan small amounts of text and remember the words or get what it means but cant totally remember the entire whole of it. can everyone else remember like this or is it just a small amount of people ..

Well, people are different. I can read text at high speed and remember all of it later.

But if you ask me to picture what my best friend looks like I can tell you from someplace in my head, but I can not envision it or see it in my head.

Photo Graphic memory.

Text is a bit differant because while you look at a place in a room with your eye you see the whole picture because it has differant colors, shapes and what-not.

with text if you "scan" over pages your eye only focuses on certain words.

So there for if you take the time to read every word you will remember Every word.

I've read in an old article that this is common.
Dunno where I read it though. Sorry.

James

individual differences my friend. some are good in remembering images or what had happened in the past, some are good on what they read and some are good in remembering sounds or remebering exactly what they heard. In your situation, you are good in images and not so much with the things that you read. that is normal for everybody. =)

well the brain is odd, you have something unique which makes you remember certain things that others wont...others remember the kinds of things you wont...however, yours is cooler imo cuz yours sounds more photographic than anything else, which is pretty useful
