There has not been even one reported death in history due straight to marijuana, and well, we all know how many people have died from alchohol and cigarettes.

How can no one in congress see this? Is it really and truly due to marijuana not being taxed?

Thanks!

Hearst is to blame. He was scared that hemp would affect his income. So he started humping the legs of politicians to have it banned and made illegal.

Its really a fascinating story how one fat cat with money can use propaganda to make his wallet richer.

You need to read about William Randolph Hearst. Marijuana was outlawed not because of its drug qualities, but because it could be made into paper half as cheap as tree pulp. Hearst was a newspaper magnate and hemp would have cut into his monopoly of paper-mill holdings. So he campaigned to outlaw cannabis by spreading inaccurate stories in his papers and magazines claiming it made people crazy and do crazy things. There was even a movie about it, 'Reefer Madness'. It's still illegal today because there's too much money to be made enforcing the law, what with drug grants from the government to law enforcement agencies all the way to lawyers who make money defending users. Plus, if you plan to sell it in my county & you don't pay a drug tax on it, you could also be charged with failure to pay that tax along with possession and intent to sell. I think the whole thing is ridiculous.

Because nicotine and alcohol were grandfathered in. If those substances were discovered today the FDA would not aprove them for human consumption.

they make too much money trying to "shut it down", but since they know they can't they just make a bunch of cash and jobs off of these petty non violent arrests. yea i can smoke 5 blunts of sensi and i might eat 10 hamburgers and go to sleep, but if i drink a bottle of vodka, i might **** my dog, punch my wife, and go to sleep outside under the bird bath naked

because its really easy to grow on your own. the government would not be able to tax that and make money.

its not because the government is afraid for our health, its because they can't get their share.
