A quincineta is usually a semi-formal event. Similar to a debutante ball or coming out party. If your boyfriend speaks English, then he probably has friends and family who do, also. As far as the dancing, maybe you should have him teach you. It might be fun for both of you. A few words of advice.... First, come hungry. Second, try to be social. Third, make sure that you pay attention to his female family members and at least say a few words to his older female relatives if they are there. Fourth, it's also a ceremony that has religious aspects, so don't wear anything too revealing. Have fun! It's a pretty big deal to be invited by your boyfriend to something like this (kinda like if he invited you to a wedding) and it usually means that he wants you to be part of more of his life.

Not 2 make u more nervous or anything but I'm Puerto Rican and Mexican,so i go to Quinceaneras all the time, the one thing you could expect if you don't say hi or anything is people talking about you.You should learn how 2 say some words in spanish, just make sure you say hola(o-la) which means hello and if you are not gonna dance say yo no baila(yo-no-by-la) which means i don't dance. If you need any other spanish words have your boyfriend translate for you or teach you how 2 say a certain word at the party

I'm Hispanic and grew up going to VERY Mexican parties. There will be drinking, A LOT of drinking. Don't worry about the dancing. All the dances at Mexican parties are easy enough for a drunk to enjoy himself among other blundering drunks. Don't worry, just have fun...and if there's a donkey show, pass on that.

A Quinceañera is a rite of passage that starts with a ceremony in church and ends with a formal reception. It is a beautiful coming of age event and is much like going to a wedding. Just behave as you would at a debutant ball, cotillion or wedding. Show respect to the young lady and her family and enjoy their hospitality. She will be the star for the evening so you can go to the dance floor and just basically blend in. Go and enjoy yourself.

i think you are probably putting way too much thought into it. he wants you to go, so he wants to share this part of his life with you. take it as a complement and then relax and have fun! probably most spanish speakers your age also speak english if they have been going to school in the USA, and dancing is just plain fun even if you don't know a specific dance. i bet your boyfriend is willing to show you some dance moves and you will probably make new friends, learn a bit about his culture and have a fantastic time!

learn how to kumbia quick!!! it will probably be like a good 30-40% of the dancing done. if you don't want to look like an ametuer, learn the basics, and then throw in some spin moves here and there. other, than that, just expect to eat, talk a bit, and dance. nothing really much to be worried about.

Nine times out of ten, they'll have a DJ who plays music in English. There will be lots of food. My advise, practice dancing with your boyfriend so you and he can see how both of you move together. Find out now than on the dance floor, lol. Good luck.

Quinceañeras can be either really really fun or really really lame.
Its up to you, go with the flow, enjoy the party.
Follow what your boyfriend does and watch out for fights.
They are really common in quinceañeras.

Yea, they love to dance; it's their culture. I met a load of them in South London and they are marvelous, even beautiful as a people. Yea, you'll have fun.
As allways, honey, it comes down to this:- Is he a nice boy? Well, if he is then you'll have fun. If he's not a nice boy then run for the hills.

Don't worry about not knowing Spanish......but you should definitely dance and don't worry about "learning to dance" beforehand. If you don't dance, you WILL look like a loser (no offense!!)
