Compliments of Carole would mean that I gave or donated it - and it is being presented to you free of charge.

Compliments of (name) is how it looked before they knew what name to put in. It is also how it looks when there is no name supplied.

If you received something with this message, it could mean:

- you have a secret admirer
- it is a business promotion - a gift from a business for marketing purposes
- the person who gave it to you didn't fill out the form correctly.

If you are being asked to submit the info, enter into the Name area exactly what you want this line to say: Compliments of "ABC Construction" or "The Smith Family" or "Suzy & Michael" - whatever works for you (just don't include any punctuation you don't want on the card.

Peace!

Actually the phrase is "compliments of" (with the added "s").

It means it's being given to you as a gift from that person.

well, in color theory it means ... just the opposite.

In light, for example, the compliment of (red) is yellow. It is on the opposite side of the color wheel.

Stare at a blue square on a white piece of paper for thirty seconds ... then look up at a white wall .... for the briefest moments you'll see the true "compliment" of that color!

It means that an item (or perhaps food or a drink) was provided to you and someone else paid for it.
