Yes, get it changed through the Social Security Administration. My mom did this after she got divorced. It is just like getting your name changed when you get married. Good luck!

I've never been divorced but from what I understand, you just take your proof of divorce (papers) with you to the social security office, apply for a new card, then take it to the driver's license place and apply for a new license...all the other stuff (such as power bill, phone bill, etc...) all you have to do is tell them, i don't think they need proof for those...but the answer is YES you can most definitely use your maiden name again, you can ALWAYS go back to your maiden name, even if you have been married 30 times...lol...

I went back to my married name after my divorce. It really depends on what state you live in to determine how, but I had to ask to go back to my maiden name in my divorce , then take a copy of my divorce papers to the social security office to request the change and then they mailed me a new social with my maiden name on it. I hope this helps.

Since you did not change it back during the divorce proceedings...You can still change it...to any name really that you want. Go to the social security office and there is a name change form and some requirements from you...I believe your birth certificate and possibly your divorce papers. You can check online probably for the social security office for your nearest SS office.

You can for a fact keep you maiden name...not sure of the process, but, in most cases it is determined at the divorce...some people fight to keep the married name others opt for the maiden.....pay $50 to a laywer to find out how to do it, Good Luck!

It is part of the divorce process, if you wanted your maiden name returned it should have been entered in your divorce petition. Now it is a separate action and you will have to go back to court to have it legally done.

When my sister got divorced, she wanted to go back to her maiden name, and she had to go through the courts to do it. I dont think its really hard at all, so it shouldnt be a problem.

good luck and best wishes.

This could have been done at the time you got a divorce. At your request, your lawyer would have included it in your divorce papers, free of charge. Now, it may cost you. Go talk to the lawyer that had your divorce case. He may be able to help you.

Depending on the state law, you have to get it changed back through legal means. It's breaking the law to use two name at the same time.

It's pretty easy to do. It varies from state to state, contact Vital Statistics to find out what your state requires.

Or try googling "name change+legal+(your state)". Many will be people trying to sell you "legal packets" ($100-$200), but you don't need them. My wife legally changed her first name awhile back, she got all the forms from city hall and paid around $50 for the forms and processing.
