This isnt the WHA2 that was going to be brought to life during the nhl lockout. That particular attempt at starting WHA 2 is now dead do to many errors in judgement by those who attempted to start that new pro league that was to compete against the NHL.
This league that you are linking to is a league that(from what I just read on their site...) would be comparable to the CHL in Canada or High School/College hockey in the States. This league is going to have teams in British Columbia and Wasthington State.
It really seems like a bush league to me, as it isnt following the development rules of Hockey Canada or USA Hockey, meaning it is unlikely to attract the top young players who have their sights on the NHL. Sorry to disappoint, but this isnt what everyone seems to think it will be.

This link you have up isn't related to the old WHA that Gretzky first played in. It's not even related to the new WHA they tried to put up when the lockout happened. That idea went away fast, as I heard they tried to put a WHA team in michigan. From what I heard they tried to negotiate with the pontiac silverdome ( Detroit Lions old field) to put a hockey team in there. That would of been interesting, a hockey rink with 40,000 seats in it. I think the new WHA teams in the league either folded or went on to play in the SPHL or the SEHL one of those southern pro leagues. This link you have up here looks like an independant developmental league. Usually leagues like that dont last too long. Outlaw leagues are hard to manage, especially if they dont follow USA hockey rules. I wish them luck though.

I agree with JB. All the best young talent is already committed to major junior, prep school or NCAA hockey so they're going to get second rate talent at best. If the owners in this league want to operate junior hockey clubs why don't they work with the already existing sanctioning bodies on both sides of the border? Any kid who gets mixed up with this league should make sure he is not throwing away his NCAA eligibility. I guess they are having the try-outs in Ontario to attract present Junior A players and kids who got cut from major junior.

The new one is a total joke. There are trouts here for the minor version WHA2 and it's...well laughable.
The original one in the '70s rocked though esp. our Vancouver Blazers.
