it's called an emulator. they are legal. it's just illegal to own a rom (a game file for the emulator on a pc) if you don't own the actual game. if you go to an emulator/rom website, make sure you don't get any viruses or anything.
p.s.
you'll never find a working ps2 or xbox emulator.. and if you do, you're pretty lucky.

its called a mod, only problem is that those are illegal, but since just about everything else is i'll give you a few warnings.
first make sure you have a virus scanner and a fire wall up while searching for a mod, most sites you go to will try to place adware spywares viruses trojans and keyloggers on your pc if your firewall is not up, second of all, some mods can mess up your computer,
third and my favorite, some mods actually reconfigure your disc drive, so it ends up speeding up your disc until it gets all scratched up
