Yes, I believe it's possible for two reasons:
One, there are organisms here on Earth that live at the bottom of the ocean around volcanic vents and thrive because of the sulfur emanating from the vents...already we know of one type of animal that does not need oxygen.
Two, I think it is illogical to think that Earth could be the only inhabited planet, given the size of the universe and how little we really know about it.

There is already another life form on earth that don't need oxygen and water.
All life on earth is broken down to three life forms - the plant life form, the life forms that form us and the animals and a 3rd type that exists inside volcanos, I think.
This life form does not depend on oxygen and water.
I think this is the most basic life form on earth. It was here before the other 2 life forms came. Then suddenly, about 3 billion years ago, there was a sudden surge in oxygen and with it brought a new life form, the life form of which we are part of.

No. Carbon based life forms are the only likely lifeforms in the universe. Hence water is essential to life. Since water contains oxygen, then oxygen is also essential to life.

Life on earth itself is so diverse is in itself a great indication that there can many different forms of lives else where such as
- silicon based life (on earth we have only carbon based life)
- water not a necessity
- it could be so very different that we might not recognize each other !!!

In the conditions we are used to , it is impossible . If we coud create some life that could exist wihout air and water , we may be inclined to thinkl that it might be possible ; but not before that .. As of now ,it is not possible
