It sounds to me that you are a very self conscious person. You care how others see you. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you feel this way particularly when eating, just be very precise in what you are doing. In other words eat with proper table manners. This way, you will know you are not doing anything rude, impolite or out of the ordinary. You can basically use this in any other situation as well. Some people just don't like to eat in front of others. I didn't for a while especially when I was working. Now that I have kids, it's a whole new ballgame and I have no time for that. I feed them and eat when and where I can.

That is a psychological thing, easily remedied through counselling. I used to be like that too, and it's quite common. It's a feeling that everyone is constantly evaluating you and judging you based on observation.

I was the same way. Whenever I was eating lunch at work, I'd always be much more comfortable if I was eating alone. I still prefer to eat alone, but I can manage if there's someone else there.

My psychologist used this analogy: Look at the person who you think is watching or judging you. Are you judging them right now? It is almost a sure thing that they are no more concerned about you than you are about them. When I try role reversal, I have a much easier time of it. Good luck.

Bring a book or a newspaper and tune out the other people that are watching you . Try and realize that they might be thinking the exact same thing about you . maybe they are just as nervous .

You either have Paranoid Personality Disorder or Paranoid Schitzophrenia. Hopefully, you just have the first... see a psychiatrist, and they will give you proper meds.

I used to be like that. Just find out who you are and what you're about. You'll be more confident.
