Alcohol causes dehydration because of the frequent urination. The ache you experience after excessive drinking the night before is your body's signal telling you that it is needing water. Have you also experienced waking up early morning (still groggy) after a heavy drinking session that night and wanting to drown your thirst with gallons of cold water?

Dehydration, alcohol eats away at the lining of you stomach, you fall down and that hurts more the next day, you are out of money because you were buying everyone drinks or dropped it to a waitress or dancer because you are way too generous drunk and you forgot where you parked your car so your feet hurt from walking the parking lot for 2 hours looking!

Drinking alcohol in moderation does not make your body hurt the next day... Getting drunk does. It is standard knowledge that having a beer or a glass of wine a day can be healthy for a person but getting drunk can be devastating...

Alcohol tends to dehydrate your body and it depletes your potassium. That's the biggest reason for the hang over headache. You're dried out and your body didn't really get what it needed from sleeping.

Because it's bad for you! The specifics are not important. What is important is that your body is trying to tell you something, namely, "Ouch! Don't do that anymore please!" That's one reason why I don't drink. Good night!
