no.. but the weight gain might be because you put on some extra muscle.. not fat.. if your eating more, or higher calorie food before you started track would make you gain fat.. but Track itself will not make you fat..

Of course not. Your increase in weight might have something to do with an increase in muscle mass (that you would develop through strenuous exercise...such as running track).
Much better to keep track of your body fat. If your weight gain is muscle, you're perfectly well off. If, on the other hand, you use the fact that you're exercising a bit to start chowing down on the grub, well...that's a problem.

It might have just been that your eating habits changed. Other than that running is the best way to stay fit and in shape so I can't see that making you fat, I would just look at your diet maybe?

eating too much and running to slow will definately cause weight gain, also muscle weighs more than fat, so initially tou may experience weight gain. as you persist your body fat will decrease, and weight will drop.
