abusive husbands like those who come home late at night or early morning the day after without even calling to inform the wife that's he's gonna be out late. so the wife suspects he's having a n affair!

they abuse them emotionally because its illegal to abuse them physically.
and don't get on the "husbands do ALL the abusing" bandwagon. plenty of women out there make their husband's life a living hell.

a bad upbringing! ppl raised to respect, be loyal and loving, etc. to others are not so cold or abusive.
why do you think some wives accept the abuse?
same thing - they're raised to be vulnerable to such abusive partners!
get some self-esteem training and you won't put up with it any more or may even move on to a more loving partner.

I was emotionally and verbally abused. That pain is worse than being physically beaten.
These men are very insecure and validate themself by demeaning those around them. They feel worthless, so they hurt people to feel powerful.
It is time to save yourself.

The better question would be: Why do the wives put up with it day in and day out when it's clear there's a serious problem in the marriage.

Because they want to tear you down. They want to hurt your spirit. They want control over you. They want you to think you are not worth loving and no body wants you. They want you to stay in the relationship with no confidence,and no self worth. Emotional abuse is just as bad if not worse then physical abuse. Get out of the relationship he is just going to wear you down to nothing.
