Assuming you really were using the tampons correctly, there isn't much you can do, other than using a larger pad, and changing it more frequently.
If you have any older sisters, or maybe a younger aunt, or someone else you might feel comfortable discussing tampon use with, you might ask them to instruct you on how best to better attempt it. At your age it really might just be that you need to get yourself accustomed to them first. They shouldn't hurt if used correctly.

Why use something that is only causing you pain? If your period tends to get everywhere, do not buy the regular pads. Buy the overnight pads because then they are super long and will prevent you from leaking in the front or in the back. If you buy regular, then stick a lightday horizontally at where the back (only because if you place it in the front, it's uncomfortable) of where your pad ends. And get the winged pads because then they are sure to stay and catch anything on the sides if anything should leak over. Do not keep it on for hours. Check every hour or two to make sure everything is okay. :)

You are probably putting the tampons in wrong. Read a book on proper use. "The Care And Keeping Of You" is a good one. Or, try thicker pads and panty liners.

Good luck...
I haven't but one idea, and I've never in 16 yrs of menstruating tried it. It's called Instead, I think. It's like a little cup or cap that you stick inside you to cover the cervix. You insert it with your fingers, so you don't have to worry about positioning it blindfolded, so to speak.

You can try cups. They are located next to the tampons in most stores.

were u puttin them in right?? You have to insert it far enuff inside of you. You shouldn't be able to feel it. You have to be relaxed and in a certain position. Read the tampon instructions
