You can let it bounce once for a GROUND STROKE. You can hit the ball in the air for a VOLLEY. When you hit the ball back and fourth it is called a RALLY. In wheel chair tennis the ball is allowed to bounce twice. You also hit your serve without letting the ball bounce . Good luck and enjoy the sport of a lifetime.

I think u should think of playing another sport! But if u really wanna know keep following tennis on TV & start reading abt it through sports magazines & by the way it's not nessesary to let the ball bounce b4 u hit it. ALL THE BEST.

Tennis is SOOO fun. To answer your question, you DON'T have to wait for it to bounce. Players just do it because it's EASIER to control when u let it bounce and u poise yourself for the return. As far as playing, you are supposed to serve from opposite sides, u play points love, 15, 30, and then the "point" is yours. Usually, 6 points will win the set and usually three sets will win the match. :)

You can only let the ball bounce one. You can do a volley which is when you hit the ball out of the air. The ball can never bounce twice.

The only time you officially have to wait for a bounce before hitting is when you return the serve.

yes, if you are returning a serve you have to let it bounce first. But after the volley starts, It is permissable to hit it at any time it crosses the net, even before it hits the ground.

you don't necessarily have to bounce the ball before you hit it, the main thing is to get the ball to head into the square on the other side of the net! good luck
