Because the mass of the water that is displaced by an object is what determines whether or not it floats. If the mass of the water displaced is greater than the mass of the object, the object will float. (For the purposes of this post, weight and mass are the same thing.)

Density, Mass divide by Volume. Water is 1 Density. If you have 1.1 Density, you'll sink in water; if you have 0.9 density, you'll float on water.

buoyancy. If something has a higher density than something else (and at least one of them is a fluid), then it will sink. It doesn't have anything to do with the weight.

well, it depends upon the amount of water sumthing displaces, u must be able to counter that against the force of the ocean and then only will it float.
if its full of air, pourous etc.
