Is something wrong with my Ipod? Where did the additional 0.4 GB go?

This is normal for all hard drives. This is due to how the computer calculates hard disk space.

There can be some reasons. first u should know that 6GB is just a traditional name that shows the capacity is about 6GB, the possibility of finding the exact 6GB is really low.
anyway,if u don't have any file on the ipod ,maybe u have hidden files .u can format the ipod once if nothing changed don't worry it's normal.

Ipods (and any other mp3 player for that matter) are acutally formatted less than advertised. its like with my 30gb ipod video it was really only like 28 GB. mostly becasue the games take up some space and stuff like that (calculator, calendar, etc.)

It's normal. Any formatted drive loses some space. iPod is no different.

i have a 4GB nano i have 3.7 capacity! available is what is left if you put songs and stuff already on it
