how can you make other lots appear in your active lot in the sims 2?

I look at pictures where other people could show other lots and props on their active lots. How can you I want to know, please!

That view is only available if you have one of the expansion packs that comes after Uni. It first came with Nightlife. The base game of Sims 2 and Uni did not have that capability without installing NL.

If you do have OFB and/or NL, it does not automatically enable since many computers will run too slow with that option on.

To turn it on, you have to go into the adjustment options (F5). It's the three dots on the lower left dial on the game screen. You select the option with the two gears icon. There will be LOT VIEW OPTIONS visible there. The more you want to see, the harder your machine has to work so be aware that if performance is suffering, you will need to use lower settings.

I hope you have one of those EPs. It's very cool to see. When you are playing a lot and want to visit the one in view, your sims do NOT go with you but you are given the option to go directly to that lot to play the family living there, without needing the neighborhood view. Of course, the other family can always be invited over...

I think you mean in the neighborhood, not in the lot.
