Dear Jacky
Do One Thing
Just Open Any of your Fav Editor
Use NOTEPAD,EDIT,VI,VIM,MSWORD,WORDPAD
OR what ever you want
Type any thing and save with DAT extention
Note When YOU are saving Don't forget to select the ALL Files Type. Other wise A Normal ext will be there
Save Like This .dat
Check It is not .dat.txt
or .dat.doc

Look A dat file is a data file
you can keep any kinda of data there.
It could be either movie,song,TEXT,pic
what ever you like

NEVER Do STUPID THINGS WITH system.dat or user.dat
don't try to remove them

Dat is an extension normally used with indexes, video files like AVISEQ1.Dat etc. You wont be able to create them using normal Windows applications. You need to use the resepective application for the same.

Hey that i very easy. Two things are in my mind about creating dat files. If you know MS-DOS open it and there type "copycon" (space) and then your file name" (abc).dat" and then write the contents and then press ctrl+f6 and then press enter and your file is created.
The other thing i know is that video files have .dat extension. If you are asking about that, you will have to record a video clip and then convert it into .dat from which you recorded
