People of all nations and backgrounds have invented many of the things we consider useful today. Also, a 'refinement' on another invention could be considered an invention itself. Furthermore, many inventions which are mentioned here were the work of a team of people, not just one individual from one 'race.'

Yes, I certainly believe that black inventors are severely undercredited, as are most minorities. But to say that blacks have 'invented almost everything useful' smacks of racial superiority. If you wanted to prove a point and further inflate your racial ego, good for you.

Haven't you learned anything from the claims by the KKK and other white supremacists that whites are the inventors of all that is useful? And if people disagree with you and are 'dishonest,' that makes them racist somehow?

PS - Many of the items on the lists posted and some of the websites are INACCURATE or JUST PLAIN WRONG. For instance, Leonardo Da Vinci was the person who invented the helicopter. Modern helicopters were invented by teams of engineers, just like modern planes and jet propulsion were.

Also, the guy who said that "white people invented electricity" is an idiot. Many civilizations have had some understanding of electricity over the ages. Plus, you can't "invent" electricity. Sheesh.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Inventor of the Bicyle in 1899?

Inventor of the motor in 1939?

Does that sound right to anyone?

Are all of you braindead?

Whites invented bicycles, the motor and the electric motor long before al those dates!

There is a difference between inventing a Motor and Inventing the worlds first motor, a big difference!!!!

They invented a whole lot of useful things, but Almost Everything Useful? That's going a little bit overboard. White people have invented a few useful things... like windmills and solar power, and stuff to kill people with. Asians have invented useful stuff, like Gunpowder, which was used in other inventions of people with other races, for mining, and guns, and fireworks. Australian Aborigines invented cool things like Didgeredoos and Bullroarers and Boomerangs...

Native Americans seem to be a bit behind the curve on inventions... I guess you could say that they "invented" corn, and cotton with different colored fibers... and obsidian swords...

Pacific Islanders weren't so big on invention either. They came up with some killer boats though, and were probably the first people to use "Slips" made of palm fronds, or bamboo rails to deploy canoes off of rocky coasts.

Heck, I don't know much about invention, but there's been a lot of useful things invented by a lot of races, and a lot of really cool stuff was invented before races as we knew them existed... like wheels, and oil lamps, and slings, and spears, and tents, and agriculture, and livestock...

no, the inventions are very well distributed around all nations, religions, races and even intellects, the only factor that seems to matter is a small level of wealth.starving people do not invent much, necessity is not the mother of invention.

edit: the lists are impressive and I was not aware of some of the inventions, but like I said every group can display similar lists and with just as much (quite justified pride for everybody) honor. Invention is one of the best of all the human qualities.

They invented a fair share. A black man invented the process for storing blood for later use in surgery and the like.

Humans appear to have invented fire before they left Africa. That's certainly a good start.
