At the Wavesync house, Lacey, Dawn, and Birdie are sitting on the couch talking. Lacey tells Dawn that she was only kidding when she told her to get Shoe a date, but Dawn replies that it makes perfect sense. "Get him off with someone else and I don't have to deal with him." Birdie then says she could have just given him a polite brush off, but Dawn says she already tried that. Then Shoe yells out from his room, telling Dawn that the clothes she selected for him are ridiculous. Dawn says that if he's going to start hanging with her, he's going to have to upgrade his wardrobe. Shoe then yells that he's not comfortable in these clothes. Dawn says that that's beside the point and tells him to come out. Shoe walks out and the girls are surprised. Lacey says he looks good and Birdie's confused that he's cute. Dawn accepts the compliments. Birdie's phone rings and she takes it out of the room. It's Marcus. He tells her to meet him at 1500, and after Birdie counts on her fingers, she figures out that that's three o'clock. She says she'll be there, then hangs up. Outside, she runs into Bailey. He tells her that since she took him to her secret place, he's going to take her to his. Birdie says okay, but she tells him she has to be back by 1500.

Kai is jogging on the beach. Vin catches up to her and they jog together. Kai tells Vin to look at a coconut tree, then tells him she'll meet him there, and runs off to it. When they sit down, Vin tells Kai that he needs training to be in shape to keep up with her. He then leans in for a kiss, and it seems they are about to kiss, but instead he simply says he'll see her tomorrow. Then Mily and Lani come to see Kai, wearing their community service suits, and seem happy. Kai tells them that she should be the one doing community service, but her friends say that they like community service because it makes them feel like good people.

Dawn and Shoe are at Ruby's. Dawn introduces Shoe to Erin. She tells Erin that his name is Kurt Shoemaker, but he is known as Shoe. She thens tells Shoe that Erin is hot and that when she stands up, he should check out her butt.

Bailey and Birdie are surfing. They get out of the water and Birdie turns off the radio. Birdie tells Bailey to close his eyes, but Bailey asks why. Birdie says that she has something for him to hear, and asks him if he hears it. He says yes. Birdie says it's beautiful, and Bailey looks at her and says that it is. Birdie asks why he's staring at her and Bailey says he can't help it. He then leans in for a kiss, but Birdie pulls away. She explains that she has Marcus, and then walks away.

Lacey throws a dart and Kai says that it was a good shot. Lacey says practice makes perfect. Kai then offers Lacey some fries and then asks if there's anything she can get for Lacey. Lacey then asks for ketchup. Kai asks about Vin. Lacey says she messed up. Lacey then tells Kai that she and Vin hooked up. Lacey says it was stupid, but tells Kai that she knows how Vin is. Lacey then tells Kai that she set him straight. Kai asks when, and Lacey says before Mily and Lani used her as a piñata. Lacey says she's sorry, but Kai walks away.

Bailey and Birdie are in the car. Bailey tells Birdie to relax and that she's not going to be late. Birdie asks Bailey what earlier was about. Bailey tells her to forget about it. Bailey then tells her that he's into her. Birdie says she knows how he is with girls, but Bailey says this is different. He then tells her, that if it wasn't for her, he wouldn't have resumed surfing. In front of the car, a man holds up a stop sign. Birdie says that this can't be happening.

Shoe is talking to Erin about being connected and how it changed his perspective, but while talking he keeps glancing at Dawn. Erin says she has something to admit and Shoe asks if it's a crime. Erin says it's nothing like that, and then tells Shoe that this was a fix up. Shoe asks who set it up and Erin looks at Dawn. Erin says that Dawn told her Shoe was a great guy, but she soon realized that Shoe is into Dawn. Shoe says that it is nothing personal and Erin says they're cool. Erin leaves, and Dawn looks confused.

Marcus is waiting for Birdie. Bailey's car comes up and Birdie gets out quickly and runs to Marcus. She says she's sorry that she's late, and that there was traffic. Marcus tells her that it's 4:30. Bailey gives Birdie her bag and then Marcus says he's out of there.

Kai meets Vin and asks him what went down with Lacey. She tells him that she knows about the hook-up and that it's important. She says that she needs to know. Vin says that he thought that Lacey was so cool, but then she dissed him, she blew him off. He says it was the same day Mily and Lani busted Lacey up. He then tells her to forget about Lacey, because he's found someone he likes better. They kiss and then Kai leaves.

Shoe tells Dawn that Erin wasn't his type. Dawn then proclaims that she and Shoe are never going to hook up. Shoe says that's the beauty of it. Love comes with twists and turns, and that no one can predict the future. Dawn says that she's not the girl for him, but Shoe says that Dawn is kind, sweet, and caring. Dawn asks if he really sees those things in her. Then she asks for more fries, and when Shoe goes to get the fries, Dawn drives off. She yells, "How's that for caring!"

At work, Birdie is talking to another employee about the situation. She says she can't believe what happened. She says it must have looked horrible. She asks the co-worker what they think and the person says they think he's right there. Marcus has arrived and tells Birdie that they need to talk. Birdie says that she and Bailey are just friends. She then tells him that she did nothing wrong. Marcus tells her that he loves her. Birdie then asks why they are fighting. Marcus tells Birdie he was scared that she wouldn't feel the same way. Birdie says "don't be" then she holds his hand. They kiss and then go into the another room. They put out the sign for "Privacy Please".

Kai comes up to Auntie, who's playing golf. She tells Auntie that she told Lacey to stay away from Vin, but she didn't. She tells Auntie that Mily and Lani asked if Lacey needed to be taught a lesson, and that after she said okay, they beat Lacey up. She then admits that Lacey kept her promise and was hurt for no good reason. Kai says that she just wishes the whole business would go away, but Auntie says Kai has to deal with it herself.

Lacey is moaning when Kai comes in. Lacey says that she had been asleep, but then rolled over and the pain woke her up. Kai tells her to take her pills and asks if they take away the pain, but Lacey says to put them back. Lacey then tells Kai that if she really wants to help, then just hold her hand.

Bailey is drinking a beer when Shoe comes in and says they need to talk. Shoe tells Bailey that he thought Dawn was nice, but Bailey says he should forget her. Bailey says that Shoe just needs to get back in the saddle, but Shoe says he was never in the saddle. Bailey asks about the girl in "Shave Ice" or a girl at school. Shoe tells Bailey that he has a girl's number and Bailey calls her. Shoe says he doesn't want to talk to her, but Bailey has already called, so Shoe leaves a voicemail saying to "give me a call, I mean shout", and then leaves his number. Then Bailey says that he needs to tell Shoe something Shoe doesn't want to hear, that the whole Dawn thing is not going to happen. When Shoe asks Bailey if any girl has ever shot him down, Bailey says that it actually happened just today. Shoe asks for advice on how to deal with such rejection, but Bailey says that he doesn't think he can help.

Lacey is sleeping and Kai is still awake. Kai is crying and is holding a bottle of painkillers. She opens it and takes some.

Justin and Birdie are surfing. When they get out of the water, Justin says that her aggressiveness makes up for her lack of experience. Birdie then asks about Justin's ex-wife. Justin says that technically they are still married. Justin then asks if her lack of focus had to do with Marcus. He tells Birdie that she can't surf and also have a steady relationship. He tells her that some day she's going to have to choose. Birdie then asks if, before they broke up, he and his ex-wife were in love. Justin says yes, and then Birdie says that it's so much better when you're in love, that it's phenomenal. She tells Justin that she's done it before, but never with someone she cared about or with someone who cared about her too. She said it was incredible and that she's totally in love. Then Marcus drives up. They hug but he says that he can't stay, that he has to go back to the base. He says that he only came to inform her that he's been ordered to ship out, that he's going to Iraq. He tells her that he'll only be around for the next couple of days. They kiss and then after he leaves, Birdie starts to cry.
