Marshall makes great practice amps under the MG series...I have a 15 watt MG-CDR and it's a great little amp! Fender make the Frontman series and they sound good too!

Peavey makes good amps I bought one for my son along with his first electric guitar 12 years ago and he still uses it as his main practice amp at home and it has never given him any problems. I think it is probably in that 15 or 20 amp range.

I just looked at http://www.zzzounds.com - a music website that has pretty good prices and great service.

I looked at the "starter kits" for electric guitar. The 6 or 7 I looked at had mainly 10 watt amps, one was 12 and 2 were 15 watt.
