i hope i am not alone with this problem but if i want to be single and a ex bf wants to get back together, all he has to say is i want you back and i will forget about what i want. even if this ex is not really what i need or want in a person. what is that about? can anyone relate?

obviously cuz i let him but where is the logic in that? like what makes his words much more powerful than my decisions? i mean is this normal?

There may be something about him that you want to fix, he wants to get back together with you (even if you don't) but you maybe want to fix what you see wrong in him . . .

It's because you are afraid... of being alone, or admitting he was a mistake, or admitting that when it comes to men you are weak, or all of the above. Either that or you are a masochist.
If you really want to be single, get caller ID and use it to screen out his calls. If he gets through anyway, the minute you hear his voice, say I don't want you, and hang up WITHOUT LISTENING TO WHAT HE HAS TO SAY! Contrary to what many people say these days, you do not have to be nice to anyone who you know is bad for you. Hang up on him enough and he will stop calling, cause he will know you are no longer his door mat and he will find another door mat.

Because you "know" each other and a guy always (for some reason) knows what to say to a woman to make her melt ... its weird but true. I had the same thing happen to me, and things went back to normal for a bit, until i realized we are not ment to be together although i know i love him, i just dont have that kind of love for him, and we are great friends till this day. Sure we still hug and kiss (not intametly) but we have feelings for each other, flirt and play around, but it's not the same thing.... Do you understand?

Seriously, you need to get some backbone. This is probably related to your overall personality going back to before you met him. Maybe some counseling would help.
