aloe vera gel, stuff works like magic.

First, off, It depends on your skin type and how deep the burn is. This is real damage, not a cosmetic nuisance. The red is from damaged blood vessles and skin cells; it will not go away fast. Pink is damage too, a milder form of red, not healthy.

And aloe vera only works to a point, is not magic.

First off, ASAP take full dose aspirin or ibuprofen every 3-4 hours or so throughout the rest of today and tomorrow (if not allergic, and with food).

As a 'hail mary pass.' you can try putting a cold wet face or hand towel in a plastic bag, & hold over your face (so you get the benefits of cool-wet with out the maceration. Then stand or lay down in front of a fan. You can set up a whole series of them, put in the fridge to cool down & rotate constantly. If you cool the skin down good, sometimes that will prevent the damaged cells from rupturing and releasing more things that cause even more redness & swelling. This worked for me a couple of times IF you get it early in the process. Once it's gone on a few hours probably won't be very effective.

Basically the damage is done. Try to be more (way more) careful next time.

Vinegar baths work great. They stink very badly but they work. Take two advil because they help reduce the redness and swelling. I did not believe this until a doctor told me this. When you bathe, be gentle. Use a moisturizing soap, such as Dove. When you get out of the shower, pat your skin dry. Don't rub your skin. Slather on an after-sun gel. Also, drink plenty of water. I'm sorry you are burnt. I have felt your pain all too often.

This really stinks, but it's guaranteed to work. Pour vinegar all over your sunburn. (Do it in the shower.) Let it sit for a few minutes then wash off. It takes the sting out and it'll help it fade. Put a good lotion on afterward, like cocoa butter or aloe vera.

Looks like you are out of luck as there is no way to heal burns that quickly. Biology is very inconvenient sometimes. You could try a decongestant because your skin is congested (my friend the doctor told me that), but other than make up, you are stuck being a lobster. Hopefully you won't blister or itch. Ice works on the itch. You really will need to keep your skin oily or the killer itch will strike.

I use NOXEMA skin cream. In the big blue jar. I don't know what is in it but it takes away the burn. It feels cold going on, but it relieves pain. I'm just not real sure anything will take away the red. Except time. You might try using some dusting powder on your skin before you go out.

I've heard if you put tea into bath water it will help. I have a gel I put on that has aloe vera in it that I got at Whole Foods. It makes it feel better.
