It's always good to consider yourself and what has worked for you in the past to relieve stress that is a healthy option like driving to the ocean and contemplating while the waves crash, whipping out a photo of a newborn relative whose face brings uncontrollable and instant joy, for women verbalizing is part of our problem-solving process, one sister in law told me, and I believe this is true... so it is effective to just have someone to bounce ideas off of purely for the verbalization thing not because a great insight will come from them ...but from yourself once everything is out ,on the table so to speak , as I talk issues that are large when in the silence of my dangerous head come into perspective for me. Even in psych 101 classes the prof will tell you that a good friend and /or listener is just as effective as a licensed therapist... I personally feel that a good run is the best stress relief if your knees, heart and weight and overall health permit then the cool down walk and stretch and if possible a shower, bath, swim, hot tub any...just taking the time out with a girlfriend to shop or drive to the mountains, hike, bike...a great movie with someone who likes to talk afterwards, even a bad movie can be fun for this.Just get out and or do something different. If nothing changes- nothing changes. Remember who you are and do the things you love like before you had to grow up... a water colr, a short story, the batting range....whatever don't accept a generic prescription for stress I believe it is very individualized but after all is said and done the above answer has great merit a support group helps a person not to feel alone and conseling is often a great big step when needed. You could just need to love yourself and remember that love is an ACTION verb.

When my parents were splitting up, a therapist I was seeing recommended a stress relief group. I thought it was a little corny at first, but it did help. Many therapists have or can get you a recommendation for groups like this. Works well for either men or women.
