This is highly unusual and I've never 'seen' it! The website below indicated that there may be some medical reason...and should be evaluated by a physician.

G'day Tatiajuania,
Thanks for your questions.
Most people sleep with their eyes closed but sleeping with your eyes open does occur. Open-eyed sleeping is called lagophthalmos and can be linked with a number of different causes and situations. For example, it can be associated with alcohol intoxication, the use of hypnotic drugs, damage to the branch of the facial nerve which supplies the orbicularis oculi muscle, scarring of the eyelids, and metabolic disorders such as thyroid dysfunction. It is also a characteristic of lagophthalmos where only one eye is open. Sleepwalkers also have their eyes open.
Fish and birds often sleep in this condition with one half of the brain alert as it allows them to escape from predators.
I have attached some sources for your reference.
Regards

I do it when I'm really tired but trying to stay awake, for example watching a really good TV programme late at night.
I used to think everyone was winding me up when they said I was asleep with my eyes open - until I saw it for myself, and it toally 110% freaked me out! Both my eyes were open, not looking in the same direction, and twitching!!

Who says they do? Who says they're sleeping rather than daydreaming?
I sleep with my eyes (partly) open because I had surgery for ptosis. It solved the problem that I couldn't open my eyelids fully. It caused the problem that they didn't close fully. So if I don't tape them shut or use ointment, they dry out.
You didn't expect that one, did you? Yes, the second paragraph is really true of me.

One - might be dead
Two - may be sleeping walking
Three - may be day dreaming
Four - maybe to scare someone
Five - maybe they find it comfortable
Six - maybe they like it
Seven - maybe thats how they are
Eight - Or maybe they don't know hoe to close their eyes
Nine - Or they were told it is better for them
Ten - I'm not sure anyway....
