Here is a tip I received only about a week ago. I don't know if it works but certainly is worth a try. Sprinkle the contents of packets of NutraSweet or Equal wherever the ants are either inside the house or in the yard. Aspartame is the artificial sweetener and supposedly was originally developed as an ant poison. Outside you may have to lightly sprinkle some water on the Aspartame and inside for small black ants you may have to mix with some apple juice. But try it dry first. It supposedly works on all species of ants including Fire Ants and works fast too. Good Luck!

Hairspray. I had an ant problem years ago and called an exterminator, he told me that hairspray actually works better than any poison they use. I've used it since and it works great. No more ant problem.

Are you looking for something to kill the ants or repel them. Ants don't like cinnamon, bay leaves, marigolds, white vinegar, chalk -- just to name a few.

Good luck ....
